The AHA’s CPR in Schools With First Aid Training Kit reflects the latest science in the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, as well as the 2024 American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid. This kit teaches the lifesaving skill of CPR, how to use an AED, and basic first aid in the school environment.
The CPR in Schools With First Aid Training Kit is easy to use and designed to allow anyone, from a layperson to an experienced AHA CPR Instructor, to instruct the course.
CPR in Schools With First Aid is designed to be taught in one class period for classes of up to 20 students at one time. The course includes 14 optional first aid topics which can be used as desired by the facilitator or school. The kit is intended to be reused by students again and again.
Course Learning Objectives
After successfully completing the CPR AED portion of this kit, students should be able to:
• Recognize when someone needs CPR
• Demonstrate performing high-quality Hands-Only CPR for an adult and child
• Demonstrate using an AED on an adult and on a child
• Recognize and respond to a choking adult or child
• (Optional) Demonstrate performing CPR with breaths for an adult and child
If teaching optional first aid topics, students should be able to describe the key steps in first aid including use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and recognize and respond in emergency situations, including:
• Drowning
• Bleeding control
• Fainting
• Seizures
• Allergic reactions
• Asthma
• Concussion
• Diabetic emergency
• Heat-related illness
• Alcohol or opioid emergency
• Spinal injuries
• Smoking and vaping
NOTE: Course objectives vary based on the course topics taught.
Requisitos técnicos
AHA USB drives are compatible with Windows (10 or newer) and Mac (MacOS 10.13 or newer) computers with standard USB-A ports. Newer Chromebooks with the ability to download apps from Google Play are also supported. Smart TVs are not supported. A USB hub or adapter may be used with computers that have USB-C ports. There is no need to download or purchase other software to operate the USB drive unless you are using a Chromebook. The USB drive must remain inserted to access course videos.
